I blame the so called pundits.

Years of pedantry has led to this.

Poll: Would Lambert have acheived better results than Cook if given the same resources

Nonsense. It has been about 80% beneficial so improved the game. VAR hasnt actually been an issue at all. The issue for the most part is the new intereption of what hand ball is. This is just being applied and most of us dont think the hand ball interpretation is right. If it was being applied as only absolutely deliberate handballs for arguments sake then it wouldnt have been given as part of VAR review. VAR os NOT the problem. Its a great tool that will keep getting refined and better and has the potential for example to eradicate diving for pens, shirtnpulling at corners etc. Brilliant!

Poll: Genuine answers please on what you would choose next season!

Unfortunately I think it has the opposite effect on diving for penalties.

Players will throw themselves down even more knowing that if the third or fourth replay shows the slightest suspicion of a touch they will get the pen. It’s fairly unusual for players to go down without any contact at all.

Totally agree that the ridiculous interpretation of the rules is at the heart of the problem but VAR exacerbates it by looking at multiple scenarios which no one in the ground or on the pitch even noticed.

All it’s doing at the moment is causing even more controversy and in that case what’s the point?

They need someone in that booth next to the referee who has played the game for a long time at the highest level.

Poll: Would love to know the opinions on here now of Lambert genuinely?

Quite right. On pitch ref makes the right reasonable call- then it gets pored over in slow mo.

The "making yourself bigger" thing is simply part of the evidence the ref should be using to decide whether its deliberate.

No, the idea of VAR is a great idea. The execution of VAR that is a problem.

VAR's place is with Jimmy Hill on Match of the Day in the 1970's.

Analyse all you like after the match, but stop spoiling the game.

More games won by flimsy penalties because a video shows a bit of contact on someone's little toe... In a contact sport.

This.

And why does VAR go looking for questionable handballs, but do nothing about patently obvious holding in the box. Rose just committed a far more obvious penalty offence.

That works better if you started with Yes. It's what i'm saying. Its nowhere near perfect yet. But its already had some very positive moments. Way more then the odd dodgy ones. The World Cup showed the % of correct decisions was much better with VAR. Big swing for me was the Neymar ridiculous dive for a pen getting overturned and booked. It was superb.

I think it is used for too much currently. It can be stripped back a bit. But it's an iterative process where it will get more and more efficient.

Yes I know what you mean, does sound better with 'Yes'.

World Cup worked superbly as a whole, still a lot more work to be done on it.
