Lambert points per game 15:10 - Apr 25 with 2272 views | Bluefish | I mentioned recently that I would expect every failed and ridiculed manager to be able to at least match the points per game return of Lambert. Are there any managers with 28 games + in the history of the championship that have ever returned a worse return than this? How bad could it have got?

Lambert points per game on 15:22 - Apr 25 with 2214 views | RobTheMonk | As much as I'm happy to see what Lambert can do with a pre-season behind him, he's not done anything near what I had hoped for results wise. It's difficult to assess how we're going to do next season under Lambert. He's had a free ride because of the mess left by Hurst but that's not going to last forever.

Seems odd to desperately tell yourself not to engage with facts because they are not what you want them to be

Lambert points per game on 21:14 - Apr 25 with 1745 views | Nthsuffolkblue | A certain Mick McCarthy had 37 games at Sunderland with a 0.27 points per game ratio but that was the Premier League. Lee Clark at Blackpool managed 20 points from 33 games in the Championship in 2014/15. They were relegated with 6 matches left of the season. Zola at Birmingham got 14 points from 24 games. He was there for 270 games, it seems that he got 1.4 ppg Edit. That possibly includes cup games but he never wins them [Post edited 25 Apr 2019 22:09]

and there is your context. Does a manager averaging 1.4 ppg at a club where they should be top two in the league do better than one averaging 0.6 ppg at a club that is expected to be relegated? Statistics can be spun very easily. The ones I used were his Premier League ones with Sunderland. The truth is, MM is no longer our manager and it is time to move on. Lambert is our manager and most fans (nearly all indeed) see no reason to show him anything other than our support at the moment. That doesn't mean we would not prefer to see the team more competitive but we have to give the guy a chance after a pre-season.

Not sure if the edit changed it or my wine stopped me reading correctly but I thought we were talking about wolves. I agree there has to be context to a managers points per game but judging on the division where the club has been a settled mainstay seems to make sense. Judging them when they have just been promoted or relegated doesn't, the fact will go down in history that the Lambert ppg return in the championship was a disgrace. Ok to give him a chance in division 3 but don't make him an untouchable hero. Bryan Robson, Gary Megson, Paul Jewell all of these would most probably be able to match or better the Lambert return

Lambert points per game on 09:22 - Apr 26 with 1361 views | Swansea_Blue | He did go on a run of 9 points in 9 games in fairness. TWTD. Although I'm being flippant, that little spell is the one thing that's giving me hope. We played well with intensity and didn't give up. It's the merest glimmer of an ember buried deep in the ashes.
