Bolton Game off on 08:30 - Apr 27 by Butterbing | Personally I feel that something has to change. I can’t understand why anybody would want to purchase a club like Bolton. Yet these clubs always seem to survive somehow. It can’t be too long before the bubble bursts and a few clubs actually do disappear. Thankfully, even with all of his faults, Evans is still capable of keeping us afloat at a loss. |
There is already a genuine concern. The halcyon days of buying clubs is probably over. Most of those wealthiest to own a club - that want to, either do own a club or have been harmed in the process of doing so, so wouldn't do so again. There seems to be an increase in the wannabe/self-importance seeking types enquiring and owning these days. Those types will only get the opportunity in a declining market. The future will be interesting. The opinion from many is that an even vaster gulf will appear, with the smaller clubs steadily returning to a more community-based concept. Fans football at the top level is dead. There will come a time when the next generations support a super league team and watch their regional team occasionally. It's kind of already happened but will become the norm when kids realise their local side will never compete at the top level again. [Post edited 27 Apr 2019 10:18]
