How many L1 teams will be in administration next season 21:58 - May 4 with 2059 viewsgtsb

Bury, Southend and Bolton all reportedly in trouble and limited income until August. Not looking good for many.

Some would point at our listing in a recent court case and add us to the list.

I would be a little surprised if more than Bolton went but there must be a point at which there is a major casualty and a possible domino effect.

You need a reality check. The likeliest 'surprise' club to fall foul of financial regulations is Town - already having trouble paying their bills, saddled with contracted players they do not want - and an offshore owner who holds the purse strings on absolutely everything and often cant be contacted to allow even minor bills to be paid. Oh and a manager who talks the talk but appears completely clueless when it comes to creating a team.

If strict accountancy rules were applied to football clubs there would be many - in all divisions- in trouble

Not sure how PL's managerial qualities impacts on how we as a club financially operate?

Basically what is happening is clubs like Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea etc have owners, corporate companies and huge stadiums plus TV rights bringing in huge sums of money to the club. They in turn spend vast fortunes on buying players, paying said players and agents fees. You then after the top six mini league have mid table teams vying for seventh place and the scrappers trying to stave off relegation. All this leads to those from seventh down forking out huge sums of money on, in a lot of cases players who are pretty ordinary. Come down a league to the Championship and you have those that have successfully gained promotion spending limited resources to achieve this and those that spend far more than they can sustain and don't always achieve their goal. Down another division and you really are looking at taking a big drop in revenue and as with Town if you don't achieve that goal of automatic promotion the following season it will probably lead to further drops in revenue because those that have purchased a season ticket whether new or existing ST holders may well have decide it's not worth even at the reduced price to purchase another ST.

Well, if we can't put wins on the board we won't attract supporters, players or stand a chance of getting into a higher division with higher TV revenues.

It is, But my point is that rumours and hearsay are far different from actual threat of administration.

It still not certain Bolton are going that way albeit that it has looked highly likely for months.
