a massive improvement on Milne, someone who appears to know what he's talking about.

Proof will be in the pudding but i think it's a step in the right direction, plus he is fairly new to this so you need to allow him some time to bed in and get more confident.

Time will tell and, of course, a lot of what he does behind the scenes will go unnoticed. He absolutely should be better than Clegg or Milne but his path to the job seems odd. From failed youth team player to head of Sports Science to head of Football Operations.

Academy Manager (which he effectively has been for a few years) to a Sporting Director role is a fairly common path if you look at a lot of the guys that are doing that role.

Slightly harsh, it doesn't matter whether we have O'Neill, Milne or Clegg, all respond to the media the same way as they tend to at every club. Reveal little and hide a lot.

The true measurement of him in his new role will be from tangible performances, not words, hurdle number 1. is his dealings of the contract situation.
