BBC Fa Cup Final advert 19:06 - May 15 with 611 viewsGeoffSentence

I notice that they describe it as a "unique British occasion".

It is an E English occasion not a British one, the other nations of the UK have their own FAs and own cup finals

The BBC just can not bring themselves to say England or English.

In the 38 games in which ALB played in goal for us, we averaged 1.53 points per game which, had they been over the course of a single season, would have seen us challenging for the play offs. This at a time when we were otherwise struggling against relegation. Oh, and didn't Mick Mills have terrific posture.

Weird. They have a whole news section on their website for England...

To be fair Cardiff reached a final not so long ago

My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.

Funnily enough in the early days they didnt. The England section was only added after public pressure.

That's a whole other debate. They got there as members of the English FA.

Who worries about that kind of nonsense though?

The modern age, people actively hunting for stuff to be offended about.

National identity is hardly nonsense. I feel slighted enough when my (adopted) Ipswich identity is insulted need of injustice across a natio n of millions. In fact you don't need to imagine it. Just look at Scotland.

Seriously? The FA Cup being described as a British event, when it is watched by people in all the countries of the UK, makes you feel slighted? As a grown adult you say that openly, and with no embarrassment?

Staggering Geoff.

It slightly peeves me that the BBC dances around England and English. I am not embarrassed about that. I have much worse character flaws to get embarrassed about first.

No idea what the issue is. Would you care if they described the Glasgow derby as a big British occasion?

It's almost like the first B in BBC stands for British and that's who they are writing their content for.

And have generally been playing in the premiership without any welsh players (not many English ones either tbf)
