Team of the Evans era 16:37 - May 19 with 2901 views | Hullblue | With our current lot not up to much (until next year), I’ve been thinking about the best team of the Evans era, and would be interested to hear other people’s thoughts. Yes, I do need to get out more. Mine goes... Begovic D Wright, McAuley, Berra, Cresswell Legwinski, Bishop Gio, McGoldrick, Wickham Murphy It’s a bit harsh on Mings, but Cresswell edges it for me because of his quality on the ball. Who have I missed out?

Probably quite close between quite a few especially if you argue over whether you are thinking at their best or on average while playing for us. Gio walks into the team though.

December 2007 Evans took ownership wasn't it? Several better defenders on our books then and Legwinski was here.

Team of the Evans era on 17:02 - May 19 with 2798 views | positivity | begovic was good, but bialkowski's impact for 3 seasons was immense. not sure gio's 5-odd games, fabulous as they were are enough to put him ahead of lawrence or frazer. i'd find a place for delaney in defence. shocked at douglas' omission too!

Waghorn had more influence than McGoldrick but who was more skilful. The difficulty with these things is what criteria do you judge them on? Whilst none of the players over the last decade or so would get in our all-time best team, we have seen a number of good players. Again do loan players who went on to better things count or is it what they were while they were here? What about someone like Bullard who was very good in one spell and made little impact in a second one or Bart who had 3 excellent seasons but a very poor one last time out?

Stopped reading when you said Waghorn had more influence than McG. Complete load of tosh. McG was is our best player of the last decade, even allowing for his injury spells. Waghorn had one decent season.

He did it for every season he had with us (albeit it was only one), he also set a good number of goals up. McGoldrick only once topped 10 goals in a season for us. Yes, I agree McGoldrick was a better player, however, Waghorn was clearly far more influential for us.

How can Waghorn (influential in our lowest finish in 50 years to that moment he left us) have been more influential than McG, who was a key player in a play-off campaign and consistently higher finishes?

I'd have Keith Andrews in for Bishop. What a midfield that would be.

Waghorn wasn't in the squad for the 2016—17 season when we finished 16th, he was in the 2017/18 one where we finished 12th.

I'm not sure that a midfield completely lacking all positional discipline is wholly great idea.
