Have you seen Bolton's list of expiring players! 14:24 - May 20 with 2484 viewsWarkTheWarkITFC

I have only included players who were involved in 10 games or more last season.

Name (Appearances in 2018/19)

Marc Wilson (17)
Andrew Taylor (27)
David Wheater (34)
Marc Beevers (34)
Jack Hobbs (27)
Josh Vela (19)
Will Buckley (34)
Craig Noone (39)
Clayton Donaldson (34)

Loan Players Returning / Returned To Parent Clubs

Jonathan Grounds (15)
Joe Williams (30)
Callum Connolly (16)
Yannick Wildschut (18)
Christian Doidge (17)

A total of 361 appearances between that lot, an average of 26 per player.

Players they have under contract for next year

Ben Alnwick (28) GK
Remi Matthews (20) GK
Pavel Orlowski (39)
Jason Lowe (37)
Luke Murphy (13)
Erhan Oztumer (18)
Gary O'Neill (31)
Sami Ameobi (31)
Josh Magennis (45)

Only 9 players who played any sort of significant part in last season, only 7 outfield players. 14/23 players who played a major part in being rubbish in the Championship going - 60% of that squad gone.

When you consider we are going on about having 31 in the squad, over half of which would be considered experienced senior players and if we keep Bart we could potentially have all of the squad we ended the season using, plus adding a few, that really is incredible that they have this squad, plus a load of kids who, unlike ours last year, played a couple of times.

We are losing Gerken, Ward who barely played, Adeyemi who never played, Knudsen who was left out for the second half of the season basically, Collins who was only fit for 5 games, Spence who disappeared from existence. They are losing 60% of their main contributors!

They really are completely in the mire. At least -12 points, no money ay all and you've got to consider some of those players under contract will be looking to move too.

Wouldn't surprise me if they dropped another division.

We were miles better than them in the last 42 games of the season though! 29 points to their 22.

They picked up 33% of their points in the first 9% of the season!

...and we still couldn't overhaul them. I'd say that still makes us worse than them.

We were worse than them over the course of the season.

We were also almost 1.5 times as good as them over the last 92% of the season.

Which is probably unsurprising, given they'd hired players they couldn't pay for and we didn't.

They were a point above us and had a worse goal difference.

Christian Doidge, who they had to return to Forest Green as they couldn't afford to pay the League Two club the agreed loan fee, scored a solitary goal for them in a 1-1 draw at Rotherham.

So that was the goal that allowed them to finish above us. A goal that they couldn't afford to pay for and should therefore have never been allowed! Lol.

Will be interesting to see where Callum Connolly ends up. He looked useful whilst here, but his subsequent loan spells at Wigan and Bolton don't appear to have gone as well.

He was playing under a competent manager here...

maybe, if we had got in a few decent players that we couldn't afford to pay we would have got enough extra points to overtake them.

I know, they all seem awfully young to die, even Wheater. Although I am sure Callum Connelly is older than 16.
