Veggie fondlers of TWTD 16:11 - May 20 with 3171 views | SpruceMoose | What are you growing this year? I'm excited to report, that thanks to my new sunnier country, I'm tackling some melons this year. Ooh Er. Also, aside from the usual stuff, have a Ghost Pepper plant that is doing pretty well. Seeing as the peppers from that plant are one step removed from actual pepper spray, I have no idea what I'll do with anything I harvest from it... [Post edited 20 May 2019 16:22]

Veggie fondlers of TWTD on 19:32 - May 20 with 659 views | Mullet | After TWTD's help and a very expensive couple of trips to online and real garden centres I've put a mix of stuff in for my first year proper as a gardener. 3 types of spuds Broad beans Beetroot Multi coloured carrots Purple broccoli French beans Courgettes Salad leaves Chard Strawberries Basil, Thyme, Oregano, Marjoram, Parsley, Sage Chilean guava About 8 types of flowers for the bees nesting in my masonry Plus got some apple, plum, red and black currants already established. Tomatoes are next in the sweaty tent thing I erected between my bushes. I sense I will either be going full suburban Dad or just making very expensive compost and bug feed.

At least the local wildlife will grow fat and lazy and easy to catch on your produce should you go hungry.

I did grow Jerusalem artichokes. They grew well, but I don’t think I would have many friends left had I persisted. The soup was good but with particularly explosive after effects as I recall.
Veggie fondlers of TWTD on 12:21 - May 21 with 546 views | Ryorry | Cripes, I'm miles behind most of you greenfingers on here! Partly down to frosts up till 12th May (killed all my magnolia's buds ) as were 650 feet up here in N. Yorks; plus not been well. So far only spring onions, lettuces (& leeks left over from last year); plus permanent asparagus bed (3rd year, and currently harvesting the first ones I've ever grown myself! only taking a few from the best-thriving plants - cutting & eating them raw on the spot, sweeeeet!). Just about to plant out bought broad bean plugs & sow my own runner bean seeds saved from last year!

Veggie fondlers of TWTD on 18:58 - May 20 by Dubtractor | For a town garden I have a fair bit of space to be fair. I've created a pretty good mix of a garden with loads of stuff for the wildlife (ponds, flowers etc), plenty of space for socialising, and loads of veg. Would still love a bigger garden really though! |
I'd really like to get some wildflowers into my garden for the bees but I don't know where I'd fit them in.

| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |
