After Mrs May... 17:24 - May 22 with 1323 viewsBinner

With Mrs May's tenure as PM stumbling towards its conclusion (some think the end is imminent) is anyone else depressed by the likelihood that her successor will be even worse?

With Johnson as favourite, Raab and Loathsome also in the running...

Johnson won't get enough support from his colleagues to make it to the final two who are elected by the members.

I'd expect the choice to be two of the following. Gove, Hunt or Javid.

I predict Johnson. He’s the only one likely to see off the twin threats of Farage and Corbyn.

Tories don’t do integrity or national interest, haven’t done for as long as I can recall. It’s all about preserving the party and power and he’s their best bet.

An uppie for well reasoned & informed point, not the quality of the candidates! Of the 3 Gove would probably the best even though I don’t fall for his greenwash act.

They've been in power, of sorts, for nine years - the experienced MPs are damaged by the choices the Cameron and May ministries have made.

Labour moved to the left after losing power in 2010; in all liklihood the Conservatives are about to take a (/another) step to the right.

Sadly I think you are incorrect. MPs will be under pressure from their constituencies to vote for him. Worrying times to say the least

Most polls show that Johnson will put three or four points on the Tory total compared with other potential leaders. But Johnson is an incompetent charlatan.

So Tory MP's are left with a choice. Put forward the best candidate to run the country or the best candidate to win an election.

I guess we will soon find out whether they will put country before party.

Johnson may put four points on the Conservative tally in the short term but he's likely to lose more than that in the long term. The only way Johnson would work for them is a risky election, trying to take advanatge of new leader bounce before he actually has to get to work.

Well they’ve always put themselves and their millions first; party second; country third as long as it benefits first and second; plebs...who cares.
