OK, by which I mean that many of my veggie seeds that I planted 10-12 days ago have started popping their little green heads up 
Particularly pleased with the runner beans (Scarlet Emperor which I think is an F1, so they're not supposed to reproduce!) as they were seeds I gathered from my beans of last year, which were in turn the babies of 2016.
Also spring onions (White Lisbon), leeks, lettuces are starting - even Basil which I said on another thread was a 'mare!  |  |

Generally use Scarlet Emperor as is a reliable variety & a great cropper. Excellent you have germinated last seasons seeds too. You must be very green fingered. My Basil is being more like a Sybil though. Bloody dampened off again. |  |

Thanks! Basil's certainly totally temperamental & has surprised me more than anything else by actually troubling to show up. Think the very warm & humid, but well-ventilated, greenhouse has been key - it's my first full season of having it. | |

Well obviously I play fair & give 'em plenty of warning, but I take their not running away as consent to being munched. Off the vine/stem/crown & straight into gob actually as far as the runner beans, lettuces & asparagus are concerned - the most beautiful thing about growing your own for me is that you can take em so young and sweet that they never get as far as the kitchen! | |
