I don't think their diesel antics helped them as a firm either.

Brexit again? on 17:48 - Jun 5 with 944 views | clive_baker | Combination of factors probably. Brexit maybe - A sizeable proportion of VW sales are to the UK market, to what extent this is compromised by the devaluation of GBP I don't know. PR - Have struggled since the 2014 (?) emissions 'scandal' generally. Sales took a significant hit after that. Robotisation - The automotive industry is going through immense change, it's no surprise that jobs will be cut both here and abroad as more of the work is automated. Global slowdown - Feeling the pinch of that no doubt, particularly in their home market. But on balance, no, I doubt Brexit is a major contributing factor.

Ah, I think you got in a muddle, friend. Only stuff that is to do with Brexit is linked to Brexit. So, for example, I recently started a thread linking the demise of British Steel to Brexit. I did this because it was reported that two key reasons for their demise were falling orders from the EU and the drop in the pound, both of which were explicitly linked to Brexit. I'd be interested to know what you think Brexit has to do with a German company cutting 4000 jobs in Germany? It's a shame people are losing their livelihood like this but I don't think it's because of Brexit.

Germany's economy is based on roughly 40% export GDP. There is a trade war going on between some of its key markets, with the automotive sector being one of Germany's most valuable sectors. It is also dealing with the emissions scandal. Hope this helps.
