I don't know why they feel they have to admit all this stuff. Surely it's a given now anybody who was around in the 80s and 90s would have had some kind of class A experience I bet Cameron and Osborne, Boris et al have all been at the devil's dandruff. I have it on good authority that all Anne Widdecombe's veins have collapsed and she's now injecting it into her groin.

If you remember the 90s, you weren't there...
They said that phrase about the 60s but the 90s was just as mental.

As Chris Morris said "it's not so much the 'nein' ties as the 'ja danke' ties " I'd like to see one come out as a raver, "I never did Cocaine but I did 5 Mitsubishi Turbos every weekend"

I forget. Is it good aids or bad aids from using a dirty needle?

The article that was linked says that Johnson has admitted to both cocaine and cannabis, Rory Stewart to opium. Now it is up to the other candidates to go one better I guess. There used to be rumours that Thatcher's Cabinet had at least three smack users in it.

I'm sure there is quite a lot of valium still knocking around lords

By admitting it, I suspect, he has pre-empted a tabloid expose... pro-active admission better than a red faced guilty nod after a front page splash.
Besides isn't he just upping the ante on 5 pints Cameron?
Maybe, just maybe we get a sensible debate on drug taking. How the war on drugs has simply created billionaire drug barons Banning a substance throws away the chance to regulate / licence it
Personally not interested in drugs beyond alcohol & caffeine, and know of people with addiction genes who get really fckd up... if legal they'd get better and quicker help IMHO.
The crusty Tory geriatrics who decide the next PM won't really be cool about drug taking.
The crusties, Gove and the rest of the shower will be looking for anything they can get their hands on in a few months time when the tories are obliterated, possibly forever.

Agree. I think he's just pre-empting it. He took some nosebag 20 years ago. I can't believe it's news worthy. Teresa May got ripped for her fields of wheat answer, rightly so but you can't then tut at someone who's done a bit of coke.

Pre-empting is most probable indeed. I wonder why this is being talked about now as opposed to when he was running last time though. Maybe more time to dig the dirt.
If he deeply regrets taking it the blow must have been of dreadful quality
The lack of honesty annoys me much more than the revelation he did some drugs.
You did it and enjoyed it, like many many others do.
Without wanting to trivialise the issues associated with dealing, and impacts from addiction, until the dialogue accepts that most people do drugs because they like the effects of them, we'll never move the debate on at all.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

There's a book coming out....not written by him.
"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."
Interesting (ish) Govey factoid with an Ipswich connection. He was co-presenter with David Baddiel and Ipswich born and ex. Ipswich High School pupil Tracey MacLeod of a late night Channel Four topical programme:
