Tyrone Mings sell on fee 21:12 - Jun 12 with 3624 viewsitfcjoe

If we get one, it will make him our record sale.

Wickham was £8.1m to Sunderland, Mings was £8m to Bournemouth.

Guess the top ups will lift him ahead of Wickham

Must do surely? Probably not many clubs that kind of scenario has come up for given the spiralling nature of transfer fees

I'd be interested to find out where Wickham would be now if he'd stayed with us for another season or two.

Yes, his form was quite streaky when he was here and although he's had a couple of really good runs (he kept Sunderland up one year) being at a chaotic club and injuries have hampered him.

Didn’t we get more than that for Wickham after a few add ons?

Birmingham Mail reporting that Villa will start with a £15m bid.

(Also states that Leeds are after £20m for Phillips, who is also a Villa target)

Given he has done fcuk all of any substance since leaving us I doubt we've received any add ons.

Staggering that he's going to be sold for more than Bournemouth paid for him when he's been injured for 2 years and had half a good season on loan in the Championship. Football has gone mad.

What exactly is our sell-on clause?

I want to say 20% of any future profit, but is that incorrect?

If so and Villa end up getting him for say, £18m, we'd have another £2m windfall.

Wickham made 49 Premier League starts for Sunderland so almost certainly would have hit at least one milestone but probably not enough to prevent Mings from becoming our new record fee if he moves on this summer. Is definitely a sell-on, I made a point of asking at the time, probably 10 per cent of profit.

Amazingly in that world Matteo Sereni has been our record signing for nearly 18 years

Just shows our demise really, and difficult to see us getting anywhere near that anytime soon either 😔

I wonder if anyone else who’s been at the top two levels in recent times can rival it? Newcastle’s still being Michael Owen until they signed Almiron in January always astonished me too, given the way PL fees are now

And if we do beat that fee the proceeds from a Lazio friendly could put it back in the frame...

A little harsh.

Think so much was expected of him, understandably, and he's got nowhere near that. We probably thought he'd be in England contention by now. On reflection Sunderland was a bad move to an unstable club, but he had one quite decent scoring streak, and while at Palace he probably hasn't put 5 consecutive games together due to injury.
