I like it a lot, but don’t drink it often because er indoors drinks white. I’ve been to many a wine tasting, stayed in Bordeaux, drunk gallons of the stuff over many years I still haven’t the faintest idea about it. I leave that to those that think they know about it. I used to hate red wine until I tried a Rothschild Pauilac, they wanted my business. Wow was my head turned to quality.
Now we don't buy certain reds under £15. Clarets mainly.
I'd take a trip to Majestic. They know their stuff. Try a Beaujolais, nice and light. Spend a tenner and hopefully you will pleasantly surprised.
Many will come back on this and say you can get good wine for a fiver.....yes is you want generic stuff, blended, and shipped in tankers to a bottling plant. That stuff is taken from an unknown number of different vineyards and blended to taste 'generic'. Nowt wrong with that, but it's not the best.
The stuff I'm steering you toward is bottled at the vineyard.

Red wine gives me a terrible hangover. Stopped drinking a while back. White wine isn’t significantly better to me either.

I understand this. Buying a bottle of something you really enjoy and savouring it. I don't get the people who go out with the intention of getting pissed out of their heads or people who have targets for how much they drink (one poster on here claimed to 'aim' for one pint every 20 minutes on a match day).
I like a couple of pints of Adnams bitter or a pint of Broadside but after that i've usually had enough. |  |
