I'm looking forward to this, some doubts as to whether the brilliant absurdity of the book can ever be translated onto tv or film but it will be good to find out.
That said absurdity is more commonplace the last few years anyway.....
Can't bring myself to watch actually! The trailers do look very good but I just prefer what's in my head to any screen adaptations. If the reviews are good I might watch but, as you say, capturing the intricacies will be almost impossible.

The chapter in the book that explained Major Major Major Major had me in stitches. How you can put a backstory like that into the film is difficult.
I loved that section, plus the part explaining the black market activities where 'everybody has a share', and the airman encased in a plaster cast, with a feeding tube and a waste tube...

I think the film is true to the book.

Was this a frequent occurrence in your career as a male stripper?
My career was over before it started. They could see I was nervous as I queued. They pulled me to one side and looked in my bag. They found the rolled up pair of socks. They ripped up my Macho card and threw me out.
Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?
Such a difficult book to write a screenplay for and get 'all the humour, absurdism , nuances and bits'. Going on last nights offering, yeah, thought that it made a good go of things.

Well the Channel 4 adaptation finished last week. I've not read the book but I really enjoyed the show
Coincidentally, I've just watched the last episode. The middle part of that one was the only bit that really grated wth me, just didn't quite work but, over all, it was an excellent adaptation that did a very good job of capturing the absurdity of the book.
I going to re-read that next, would definitely recommend it to everyone.
