People in top jobs are in their fifties and sixties, thus started school in the 1960s and '70s. Not only is there a very significant lag, but that was a particularly difficult time in the state system, with lots of experimentation based around theories of children "learning what they wanted". Many people of that generation were left with gaps in their education as a result. I think things will change significantly (in the realm of gender equality, also) over the next decade or two. | |
