There used to be one on Castle Hill Rec that often had every available inch of space occupied by children seemingly intent on bringing their short lives to an abrupt end, The really out there elder boys would specialise in hanging upside down from as far up the structure as they could get (which admittedly subjected them to a little less centrifugal force). Those were the days.

Castle Hill rec - I have fond memories of that place from my 70’s childhood. During the school summer holidays the place was mobbed in the evenings. Happy days...

There was a thing on Bourne Park we used to call the cheese cutter - a long bench like a horizontal swing. You could stand on the back seat and almost get the thing airborne. I'm sure that if you fell of and got hit by it you'd suffer some serious damage.

There was one of those at Castle Hill as well, strangely as I have gone through life I have never met anyone else from those days...
