England look on it.....(so far) 11:03 - Jul 3 with 875 viewshampstead_blue

First few overs have been ideal.

A real road up in Durham. Love the crack off the bat when Roy and Johnny nail one...

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Reaching 50 off 38 balls is pretty phenominal at this stage of the innings, against the new ball and facing Boult.

Could be that NZ aren't psychologically up for it.

If England make 400 then NZ creep to 200-2 they have such a run-rate advantage over Pakistan that they will almost certainly be in the semis.

Not Ferguson though. I've not seen NZ bowl in this tournament but he;s been a big part of
their team and most commentators think they're missing him today.

It's a good start, hopefully we'll keep this up and Williamson will have a bad day with the bat.

But, on the other hand, if NZ beat us, then they could be facing the much less consistently dangerous Pakistan in the knockout stages.

Ferguson will be a big miss for NZ today. They need wicket takers, given the length and power of England's batting lineup.

Agreed.
Henry and Southee are too much 'pitch up and swing'. His 10 overs should be targetted by England.

Where is Wagner? He played at Essex and really went at the batters. Hit the deck hard.

And another. Not convinced about Buttler coming in earlier, think he's better value for a quick, violent burst towards the end. Push Stokes up the order, if anyone, given he has now developed the ability to bat steadily if conditions require, as well as explosively.

And another. Need to be careful now to make sure we do bat out 50 overs. Good solid platform and letting it slip at the 30 over mark for the second match in a row.

Wicket looks a little two paced for me. If we get 290+, think that’s going to be a challenging score. It certainly doesn’t look easy to bat on.

A bit of a thrash from Plunkett and Rashid has been exactly what England needed here. 29 runs in 3.2 overs.

And Rashid is out, three balls left and 301/8.
