Even in those brief anecdotes you can see how toxic he is.

I feel for the drug-testing guy as well. Awful way to talk about someone just doing their job and so utterly disrespectful. Not surprising Delaney went downhill so fast - and then ended up being a Prem regular once he left. Getting grief constantly is bound to get to you eventually.

Troy Brown perhaps? Now 28 and more than 250 professional games suggests he's done OK. Look at that Leicester team and then recall how 6 years later they won the Premier League...

Judging from the stereotypes of shooting up in London, I assume the player was black. I think it was Troy Brown, he is from London and 10 years ago would have been 18/19

Which would make Keane racist if true.

Yes. Telling a young black kid you can accept his failure as it is down to his parents, as well as projecting a life of crime as his only hope in life. Classy guy.

I managed to miss this article first time around but it got suggested to me by Google (as a link to PunditArena), an interesting insight to another era and it makes me wonder how long Keane would have lasted if we had had, say, Bobby Robson as a Director of Football looking over his shoulder? The link to the piece on the EADT still works and it looks word for word the same as the PunditArena piece.

I think those comments were to two different players. It's not 100 per cent clear but the three comments seem to have been made to three different players. Many players who played for Town under Keane liked playing for him, but it is clear the reason it never took off for him at Town was that he had little man management skills. Our squad under him was decent enough to be top 10 in the Championship at least. Football can be a very tough and often nasty environment. It's an island all of its own.
