Just watched firefly on the telly box again and it bought back all the old feelings of shows inexplicably ending short. (seems Joss Wheldon and TV channels have a history)
We just started watching Whitechapel again which is another ending too abruptly.
Any telly shows you wish has one last season or special to tie up the loose ends?

I would say Father Ted is another where every episode is excellent.
Father Ted was in my original post. Although I love Father Ted with a passion there was a couple of episodes that were a bit crap. The Xmas special for example
My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.

Series. FFS.
I’m a few pints in so forgive my ignorance but what are you sh1ting about?
Edit: I can only assume you are saying I should be saying “series” instead of “season”. In which case I’d say you are wrong. A series is another name for a show. A season is a group of episodes of a series. You can apologise when you are ready if this is your point X

Season is an obnoxious Americanism which, on any analysis, cannot apply to a 70s English series. ..
The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think they've found it.
(Sir Terry Pratchett)
no Firefly ended short because it wasnt any good, it was maybe the first series that had an online following that thought it was alot better than it was and they got trapped in an echo chamber convincing themselves this was some epic drama, when it was just a cheap StarWars/Western rip off. the movie Serenity Ill give you was reasonable sci fi entertainment, but the series no, its up there with Space Above and Beyond and maybe even stuff like Lexx as just rank average sci fi filler

Then you are misguided
I’ve consulted my fellow drunkards and they agree with me. We could all be too drunk of course. I’ll rethink in the morning and back down if I believe myself to be wrong

Wash your mouth out.
Preferably with some good old British coal soap.
Season is an Americanism.
You mean series in a series of things/events/ and in this instance, TV programmes, (not 'shows').
FlashForward and The Event from about a decade ago. Both were high budget daft/brilliant plots that were both binned after one (22 episode) series. I enjoyed both and have always hoped that Netflix or similar may pick up the baton and continue the stories.

Hmm I appear to be in the minority here but my fellow drunkards still insist I’m right. Could be a cultural thing as I live in Ireland though. (Although the Irish tend to adopt far more British culture in general than they would American, even though they wouldn’t care to admit it!!)
Still, to my mind a series is a show and a season is a set of episodes or sub-section of said show. Again I’ll have a rethink when I’m sober and offer a whole hearted apology to you both if I decide I’ve been incorrect
Edit: Could be an age thing too of course. As Sparks pointed out, Fawlty Towers was a 70s show so perhaps the lingo at the time should still apply. Although maybe you are both just too old and out of touch with the lingo of today

Anyone over 50 would prefer "Series" to "Season".
I'm not quite that old, and have been converted to "Season 3" of a tv Series.
Anyone under 25 wouldn't know what a "Series" is.
From your Username I'm guessing you're 33/34, and so closer to the last of those.

I'm 45 and it's series all day long for me.
I reckon you're 10 years out with your guess of the guy's age.
So, as a 45 year old who hasn't been converted to "Season" at all yet, do you have Netflix or Sky Atlantic? They divide things into "Seasons" and it seeps in eventually.

I've just started watching the 3rd series of Stranger Things on Netflix. The first episode was a promising start.

Won't happen but I think on Danny Baker a while ago Ian Le Frenais was thinking about the Likely Lads where upwardly mobile Bob had fallen on hard times and Terry had come into some money. Would have been great.
