Lots of information online about how many meet expected standards. Nothing i can find beyond that though. Anyone know what scores are typical as opposed to seriously top end? If 65% hit standard then presumably most of those were some way above it. I'd like to see a distribution graph but can't find one. ... |  |

Your child will have been identified as "Gifted and Talented" or not, previously.
S/he will have a raw SATS score, which the school will have access to, but the purpose of SATS is to assess "Value Added" by the school, not to grade individual children, so the results are published in quite a different way to GCSEs and A Levels, which are marks of individual attainment.
Maybe enter them for a spelling bee or something, if knowing how they measure up against uber-geeks matters to you?

At the end of the day Sparks, mainstream schools, academies, LEAs or Academy MAT boards are only really interested in those children that have a raw score of 100+ for ‘all’ subjects as this is the threshold for the expected standard by the end of Y6. Naturally, their percentage results are then compared to the national average for reading, spelling and grammar (SPAG) and Maths to place the school in the league tables (Writing and Science are moderated through teacher assessment rather than being test based). Schools will calculate the percentile of children that achieved the expected standard for individual subjects, but it’s the combined score that they are really interested in as this is what they are judged on in comparison to the national mean average and gives parents a figure they can hang their hat on in regards to how the school performed that particular year.
