Yet another thoroughly depressing sign of where this country is:

One of the many aspects of Eric Pickles' terrible legacy.

I stayed for one night in the easyHotel in Ipswich for a works night out.

Windowless room. Very disorientating especially when you wake up

I thought rooms without windows couldn't be deemed bedrooms?

The issue is that this is being done under permitted development, so many rules that would be applicable when seeking planning permission do not apply.

Appalling. If you didn't have depression or other psychological problems before ...

I never cease to be shocked at how short-sighted governments tend to be - cheapskate it now, it'll be costing the NHS a lot more later.

It's miserable.

Agree, it’s awful. It seems that governments work on the basis of if it makes money now, who cares about the consequences. It’s so short sighted.

I don't think that's the case - think it's more that they don't realise how low people will sink to get round the rules put in place.

You'd think the large construction companies who donate big sums to the tory party would tell them.

there is an office block in West Hampstead, by the railway and the builders supplies depot, classy....

It was converted under these rules. Awful development. Shoe boxes.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Yes you do. As I was going out to get drunk I decided a windowless room would be fine. I was wrong as when I woke up there was no natural or street lights to give me an idea of time

I know that building. The new flats in the middle of of the train lines look horrible too (although they were very expensive)

It's not that one....it's worse.

It's the old Accurist office at the back of Homebase and Sainsbury's. A real dive of an industrial street opposite were you are talking about.

The flats you mention were heavily bought by investors. Who would want to live in between 9 even 10 train tracks!!!!

Given Johnson's stance on what constitutes acceptable housing quality during his time as mayor, think things may get a whole lot worse than that.

Ah, see what you mean and yes, worse still!

Totally with on the last para - i used to live near liverpool street station for a year and the racket in the summer when you needed open windows was horrible (and that flat was well set back from the tracks, so these must be grim)

It also comes with strong brackets for chains and any other items you may wish.

Excellent!

I also noticed an obvious typo in my previous post. I wrote 'niche interests' when of course it should have read 'niece interests'.
