Holiday reading recommendations? 17:18 - Jul 17 with 3516 views | Romeo4 | Can anybody recommend any good books you've read recently? I admit to being lazy here but looking to avoid having to trawl amazon for a decent option. I usually like fiction (crime, spy, horror) but happy to consider other genres if recommended. thanks.

I read that while on holiday in May, thought it was a damn good read. The Underground Railroad is very good by Colson Whitehead and has been out for 2 or 3 years now so is probably a decent price.

I've got this as my next book to read once I've finished The Expanse series (2 books to go). Just ordered your book as well haha! Sounds interesting! [Post edited 18 Jul 2019 9:44]

| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Holiday reading recommendations? on 11:45 - Jul 18 with 2905 views | blue62 | Totally not fiction, crime or spy. But I read Shoe Dog, Phil Knight on holiday. The story of the founder of Nike and it is a really good read, if you fancy something different. Quite like Harlan Coben for crime, any of his are worth a look and some sports related ones in there as well.

Holiday reading recommendations? on 12:30 - Jul 18 with 2836 views | CaptainAhab | If you like horror have you ever tried Adam Nevill? My absolute favourite author, all his books are excellent, real literary horror that get under your skin. I'd probably start with Last Days which is probably his most accessible and would make a good holiday read, or the Ritual (which was made into a pretty decent movie, now on Netflix) If you like horror AND crime then John Connolly's detective series is fantastic.

Thanks. Both look like good options (especially the 2nd one with the added bonus of supporting a fellow TWTDer!)

Thread revival - just started reading your book, KTBlue. 3 chapters in and I'm very much enjoying it. Straight away it's got me wanting to know what the hell is going on and why one of the characters is like he is. Think I'll have it done by the end of the week!
