There was a great interview with a senior EU politician - it was quite simple the UKs competition are continents, mega-populations - USA, China and India. Europe is about integrating smaller counties for two things driving peace with weight on the world stage AND being in an economic block that rivals these mega countries. USA does not have our interest at heart, period, unlike our European cousins whilst in the EU. |
