Visiting my elderly mum the past few days I couldn't help but notice that she seems to have various means to kill almost anything.
Fly sprays, ant powders, slug pellets...
What is it with that lot? They must have spent the entire 50s inventing any chemical they could to slaughter anything that dare come near their gardens.
It's more the interior of houses that the younger generation concentrate on with the multitude of bleach based potions there are.
That and moaning about global warming whilst having permanently operating washing machines to wash clothes that have been breathed on and not much more.

Oh so true. Lip service and self-deluded business as usual. Almost everyone needs a kick up the aris. Like the bondage exponent, it is bound to come.
Not specific to the younger generation but.

It wasn't widely perceived as a bad thing back then - they didn't have the information then that we do now with our hindsight.
Does she have & use a computer & the internet?
Btw "that lot" - - includes me, organic smallholder, grower & consumer for the past half century.
Nah, I should think you were too young to be inventing murderous chemicals in the 50s.
It's just the cupboards seem to be full of death.
I lifted a slab once and there was a nice, neat little run of channels some ants had worked to build. She took one look and asked if I wanted some powder.
They're innocently going about their business and she wants to wipe them out.
I'm with you on that then. We'll get some knocked up.
I'm now at the age I hate everyone either side of me age wise.
I just dont know what use they are. They hang around outside my house drinking those dangerous energy drinks and playing music on phones. I dont know why they dont have headphones. Sometimes they sit on my garden wall. I bang on the window and they stick their fingers up and mouth swear words at me but they clear off. They always come back though. Tried calling the police but they are no good.

Im in my fifties and try to do my bit for the planet and society. However my mum just refused. We have brown bins for garden waste and she would regularly hide bits of metal and non compostible rubbish in it. Not that I'm convinced the council recycle everything, but it drove me mad that she would contaminate everything even when she never filled the general waste bin available.
