Corbyn due to give his decision by Easter

Owen Jones is upset by it, so that is a good thing.

It won’t be successful, but it is fairly astute politically just before the summer recess and makes Corbyn look weak and indecisive (again)

She said on Newsnight last night that she would put in an early day motion today but more or less acknowledged that it wouldn't get anywhere without Labour getting off their backside.

Not sure that Labour will think that now is the best time.

It’s not the best time, if you want to win it. However, it shows intent and makes Labour look weak with his “we’ll do it when we we are ready and it may surprise you” line

In order for the election to take place before 31st October, a first no confidence motion needs to pass either today or on the first day after recess.

Agreed, best time for the LDs and best time for Labour are two different things. I can see why Swinson's done it now.

Presumably Labour will think very carefully about when gives them the best chance of winning it, but without looking at a bigger picture of trying to get the support from elsewhere that they will need. And the moment will have passed but Jeremy will have got some lovely veg off his allotment.

Surely her aim should be to gain power from the Government rather than to wrestle second place from Labour?

It won’t work, but it sends a message on the last day of Parliament. Corbyn will just appear weak to the public who don’t understand the intricacies of how all this works.

She was stating that as her aim last night on Newsnight.

They also had a halfway reasonable sounding Tory MP I'd never heard of before, which was interesting.

We won’t ever do that directly, so now it is about destabilising them and showing Labour to be weak

We know. And that is her job done because the public will just see Labour not supporting something that looks so obvious.

Quite. Corbyn's making Labour a potentially fertile hunting ground for the LDs.

He always threatens a vote of no confidence, but won't back it.

It's because it requires him to make a decision, something he doesn't do.

Eh? I’m a Lib Dem.

The motion is aimed at making Labour look weak (not difficult), never about winning the VONC right now.

If you believe Boris will resolve all of this by 31st October you are deluded. It isn’t even legally possible in that timeframe as he has been told

Dozy idea. Could result in a hung parliament and the parties still wheeler dealing on 31st October as we, in accordance with existing laws, leave the EU.

We are leaving before or on 31st October.

Your party is now as bad as the Labour party, your new leader has stated if the ref was run again and we win again (which will be a larger majority than before) she will not accept it.

So much for the luvvy dovey party, just another I know best and that is what we will do.
