Very interestering Waghorn interview re depression 16:08 - Aug 9 with 1743 viewsHipsterectomy

Maybe explains how we got him so cheap. He says he was coming home from training and sleeping everyday, couldn't handle how aggressive and hardcore the fans in Glasgow were etc.

They do take it very seriously up there, rivalry is bitter and fierce to say the least! Football runs as deep as religion in Glasgow. Some players would thrive off it (think Gazza) but I can imagine plenty of others (just as Waghorn found) finding it just too hot to handle.

Sorry mate, unintentional downvote (blame the chubby hands and a small phone!)

Thought this was a really interesting article, depression is an absolute killer (no personal experience of it but loved one(s) have struggled with it) and it's great to hear that he's in a much better place now. Cheers for bringing this one up!

It's easy to root for a person with Waghorn's courage. He made a big impact in a single season as an outstanding presence both on and off the pitch. I wish him and his family all the best.

Great on him and his partner getting the medical help needed.

Makes a good change for us to have benefitted from a player having issues rather than to find the issues appear once here and hold them back.

Professional sport is full of highs & lows so I guess mental health issues are probably more common in sport than one might think.
Also the huge extra pressure at Celtic & Rangers - where you are expected to win every game - doesn't make it any easier.

Definitely. Must be strange to get 100% hate from the city when you lose. He alluded to the fact he couldn’t go out with his family in the city which must be horrible.

You wouldn’t think that when he was here, he was adored almost instantly. Always seemed to love it here with all the strange celebrations and I think the rest of the squad adored him. Just proves you can’t be sure anyone is ok without knowing.
