We stayed in “Danny Lambos” boutique hotel last year, themed rooms in 1970s style... uncomfortable bed, not great experience. But it had appeared on channel 4s “four in a bed”

http://www.sanctumsoho.com is pretty decent. Hot tub on the roof, right in the centre of town and you can get a guitar delivered to your room for the night if you want to piss of the neighbours.

Depends on your budget Dub, trouble is London is a very expensive city in which to stay.

The Baglioni is far from cheap but near High S Kensington tube

The Seacontainers, on the South Bank near the Tate modern is also very good,

The Westbury off Regent St often has deals available, and although its a chain its excellent

Cheaper options, The Grange Holborn was good although it has just changed hands so....and the Waldorf Hilton also often has deals and is very central

Otherwise theres loads of hotels off Southampton Row which are cheape, pretty central, and decent if unspectacular but not really boutique

and a warning - avoid the HardRock hotel its just awful

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Some more to my tastes than others!

Quite like the look of the Zetter Townhouse, Seacontainers and the Sanctum Soho (though I'm not a fan of the sex pond (hot tub) as a rule).
