Another decision in your 'short' tenure, that appears to have been the wrong one.

Assuming this is about KVY. he hasn't kicked a ball for us yet.

If he turns out to be sh1t then Paul Hurst might have made a good decision?

To give him his due, I thought it was impossible for anyone to reach the levels of hopeless as roy keane. Jewell tried his best but fell short but Hurst really did take the challenge on and has run him close.

Perhaps he wasn't right then and has kicked on since. Football is littered with examples of such things happening.

It's hardly on the scale of say what Chelsea with with Matic.

....we weren't looking for a 3rd Division player last season.

We are now.

Interesting point - for me Keane is the clear winner but only because he had more to play with (in terms of wages at least). If Hurst had more money I reckon he would have beaten the lot.

Fair comment, this is indeed highly possible. Placed against the many other decisions Paul Hurst made for this club in terms of player transfers in or out, I should've given him that benefit of the doubt, I suppose...

Regardless, using this as some stick to beat him with just because we didn't sign him last year "when he was free" is silly. Players frequently get better over time. Remember when Townsend was here and we sent him back because he wasn't good enough for a play off chasing championship team but is now an England international? See also, Hourihane, Livermore, Delaney, McAuley and so many others. Bat came here for a loan and got sent off in a reserve game and then came back years later much better.

Hurst may have not made the best decisions in terms of players out but it could've been totally justified not to sign him last year. Just trying the paint the other side.

Surprisingly the majority of Sunderland seem to adore Keane. On their main forum every few days there is a thread begging him to be their manager again.

Or, if you want an alternative point of view, he must be really sh1t as Hurst didn't sign.

Hopefully you're correct though!

Keane, arguably is directly responsible for where we are now. Had he not wasted such a large sum so spectacularly, Evans might actually have backed his only competent manager when he had us challenging at the top of the championship.
