Our last decent right back? on 14:45 - Aug 15 with 2693 views | Mach_foreignBlue | Such 'decent' was David Wright that we signed Volz and Simpson on loan whilst he was at the club. Wilnis by far our last decent right back.
Our last decent right back? on 14:46 - Aug 15 with 2683 views | itfcjoe | Fabian Wilnis for me, Wright did ok but didn't even hold down a position in the team throuigh his spell here

It can't be someone who didn't hold a place down in the team. I liked Parr over Mings

Fab was a great guy and tremendous going forward, but defensively less outstanding. Positionally not the greatest.

His red card against Huckerby at Portman Road was a stinger, thought it was harsh at the time although I admit I would be biased! I recall it was in the first half. [Post edited 15 Aug 2019 15:24]

Our last decent right back? on 15:17 - Aug 15 with 2501 views | midastouch | David Wrong is the Budgie U23 manager these days so that automatically makes me prefer Wilnis over him. Remember Wilnis scoring against Man Utd when we drew 1-1, it was our first home game that season after getting promoted to the Prem. I think Beckham might of scored the goal for Utd, possibly from a free kick but I'm not 100% as quite a long time ago now!

David Johnson also looked the part that night (without scoring) and I think I recall Fergie saying he might of dropped a bit of a clanger releasing him. However, I then seem to recall Johnson never scored a goal in the Premier League for us (at least I don't think he did) with Stewart stealing the show and of course Alun Armstrong more than chipping in too. Will never forget Armstrong's goal against Inter. Sadly (as is often the case in football) good times end quicker than bad times!

Wilnis was also close to getting an international call up. Don't think he did in the end (or did he, I can't quite remember? I don't think he did but I might be wrong) but I remember there be talk of it at least at the time. And that was no easy thing then as the Dutch team was packed full of very good players. To be fair, they still aren't that bad now! I've got memories of watching Fabian Wilnis playing against the mighty Grimsby (John Peel was sitting nearby that day, didn't know him personally, he was either a row in front or behind), we lost that game 1 nil I think! But things certainly improved for Mr Wilnis at Town thereafter. [Post edited 15 Aug 2019 15:31]

We had been doing absolutely fine with Fabian but Burley for some strange reason decided to sign Makin who turned out to be no better. Joe Royle fortunately resurrected Wilnis' career at Town.

Forgot about Makin. Yeah he did well for us. Was he signed from Sunderland? Can't quite remember now! I preferred Wilnis to Makin but Chris Makin was a decent enough option to have as well. [Post edited 15 Aug 2019 15:42]
