There are 30 games last season that Lambert managed also which help form more of a smaple of working out what he is trying to do

Different division, different squad, no preseason with the team, no confidence, lots of loans etc.

So whilst it's relevant it's not an equivalent sample size. You may end up being right but I'll wait a few more games before firming up opinions.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens if we manage to hit Wimbledon early as to whether they’ll just want to keep the score respectable or if they want to search for a point - if the latter they may play into our hands.

I assume with two full backs lacking in quality, one old fashioned centre back and a youngster he perhaps doesn’t want to put too much pressure on the defence to play from the back. With Holy’s kicks we can turn a side around quickly and old fashioned target man will help in this regard. We probably don’t have the support on the wings to aid this style of play which is why Lambert’s looking for full backs who can play on the overlap. Get those players in and the style we’re seemingly trying may be more successful.

The irony being is that much different from Mick’s approach?

Similar hit and hope quite often, but at least it is more forward thinking. Can't see us setting up to not get beaten at home by struggling Bolton this time round.

It would have been disallowed if the ref had seen it, or if there was VAR!

I think harsh to blame Donacien like some are - it's quite hard to not lose man when he gives you such an OTT push like that - was just blatant

As a former centre back, I would say you get a lot of well timed shunts from attackers like that just as the ball is delivered, some given as fouls, some not. You need to stand off a little more so you can attack the ball and get your shoulder into the attacker (not so easy against a taller player or better jumper) or get really tight and make sure your weight distribution is right to prevent being easily pushed off. Donacien did neither, and reacted slowly after he did get pushed off. He actually had time to jump with and into Toney after the push (without fouling him) but he wasn't switched on and his balance wasn't good.

On the other goal, with the ball curling towards him, Chambers should have gone with his head and nodded that out somewhere near the corner flag.

However both of these points are just observations and not intended as criticisms of two professionals who work hard at their jobs and make mistakes and spur of the moment misjudgments just like anybody else.

A very soft free-kick. A dive actually so cannot see how Woolfy is to blame.

He defends it too aggressively and gives him a chance to go down
