Anyone who reckons ME is the saviour of Ipswich Town should at least be able to explain ITFC nearly £100,000,000 of debt (bearing in mind ITFC is only a league one outfit)!

I've been looking to profit froma loss making business all my life, no one ever explains how it is done on here though, so for now I continue the grind.

Whatever the answer is, I've no doubt it will be followed by loads of exclamation marks.

Well the original £30 mill is owed to a bank I thought? What is a 'hair in my throat' is the dark aged peasants that think this money is coming out of ME's own pocket ! nothing to do with the constant swelling of debt is a huge percentage of ME's interest payments.....

Nope, its not owed to the banks.

Well I would agree with you that ME owning the debt (considering he owns ITFC) does give ITFC some security, the worry is the point when interest payments on the ever growing debt becomes far to much to pay which will become reality at the current growth of debt at ITFC.

The debt is non-interest bearing. But that's really irrelevant.

There are and never have been any interest payments. There was interest added to the balance sheet up to 2012 but never anything paid. The debt will never be paid back, there has never been the expectation that it will. It will almost certainly, as has been the case at other clubs in similar positions, be written off prior to a takeover.

So why the increase in debt year on year?

I'm going to go with "we are running at a loss".

Because, as is the case for a high number of football clubs, football clubs operate at a loss, which is why FFP rules dictate a club should limit losses instead of being in the black.

That is not actually correct is it? Non interest bearing debt is only a percentage of the overall debt but has still increased (amount of non interest bearing debt figures have gone up)

Just because there is more money going out than coming in you think we are running at a loss?

Because more money has been loaned to the club to cover the shortfall, which is basically player wages. The loans cover the difference between what is generated by the club and the outgoings, most of which are player wages, hence the debt goes up every year.
