Looking at the Trophy rules... 22:38 - Aug 31 with 5509 viewspointofblue

Firstly, it looks like we should field at least four qualifying players which means they either:
1) Started today against Shrewsbury
2) Will start the match against Doncaster
3) Is in the top ten players at the club with highest number of starting appearances in First Team Fixtures this season
4) Has made 40 or more appearances in First Team fixtures or international equivalents (career, not limited to Club or season)
5) Is on standard loan from a Premier League club or any EFL club with operating a Category One academy

So we could pratically change the entire starting XI for Tuesday...

Norris (1st Qualifying player - on standard loan from PL club)

Emmanuel
Donacien
Chambers (2nd Qualifying player - started v Shrewsbury)
Wilson

Edwards (3rd qualifying player - 40+ league and international appearances)
Georgiou (4th Qualifying player - on standard loan from PL club)
Huws
Dozzell
Nolan

Keane

Georgiou might not be here? Apart from that I reckon the line up is spot on.

As we haven’t got a game Saturday then Lambert can go a bit stronger than he may have done if we did.

Is it any combination of those options?

Huws, Wilson, Dozzell, Nolan, Donacien and Keane must have made 40+ first team appearances. I would imagine Emmanuel has too assuming while out on loan counts.

We won't play Chambers and could leave Wilson out too and just play kids in central defence. Although there is an argument for playing some of those you suggest, I think the team will be considerably weaker.

Looking at those rules, think we can field pretty much what team we like.

The 40 appearances could include Wilson, Donacien, Huws, Edwards & Nolan (who all need a run out).

If you add Georgiou and Norris on loan from Premier teams - think Lambert can pick who he wants, and give a rest to who he wants.

Pretty sure that someone mentioned that restrictions are on outfield players, keepers do not count.

We will rotate the squad as we did at Luton.

So would expect to see something like

Norris

Emmanuel
Wilson (40+)
Chambers (40+)
Clements

Edwards (40+)
Huws (40+)
Dozzell (40+)
Nolan (40+)
Georgiou?? if available

Keane (40+)

Yes, any combination - it's not a limiting as I thought.

I think Huws, Dozzell, Nolan and Keane will be given game time; it's a shame we haven't got another fit striker (who didn't start today) to partner with Keane unless we sign someone else before Monday's deadline.

Not sure if Georgiou will be able to play.

It's a shame if you see it as a competitive match. I am not sure PL/the club will. So it is likely Keane will play on his own, a youngster will play or someone will play out of position. That could be Edwards or El Mizouni?

I think Lambert might see it as an opportunity to get some players some game time - especially Huws, Nolan and Keane. It's not a bad team but, as shown at Luton, without Skuse or Downes we'll lack bite.

He did but we're saving it for Tuesday (another embargo!) as there's no manager's pre-match presser.

Georgio would be unacceptable against he own team?

Think there will be a few academy players and supplemented by players who need some minutes so will something like

Norris
Emmanuel, Donacian, Wilson, Clements
Huws, Nolan, Dozzell, Rowe
Keane (+1)

Would still be a strong and decent 11 and also give a few players some valuable time with the next league game 10 days later. Not sure how far Nsiala is away?

Play the game, Phil...

Start with the team on the thread that's the most wide of mark, and give us black pegs (right player, right position) and white pegs (right player). Bet we'd get to Tuesday without you having to reveal the lineup!

Is Roberts injured then?

Item 4 covers the majority of that outfield squad (Emmanuel, Donacien, Chambers, Wilson, Edwards, Huws, Keane).

Donacien is on the list of our top ten players by appearance for this season.

Quite possible that Wilson and Edwards may start the next Leage game.

Those criteria are not that stringent, really. Just prevents us playing a team entirely drawn from the U23s.

A great opportunity to give 90 minutes to the likes of Norris, Emmanuel, Wilson, Dozzell, Huws, Nolan, Edwards and Keane. Fill the gaps with the likes of Donacien, Roberts and perhaps 1 or 2 of the youths - Ndaba / Clements maybe.

Personally I would make sure none of Chambers, Woolfenden, KVY, Skuse, Downes, Jackson, Judge, Norwood feature at all.

Yes, apologies, the qualifying requirements are only for the ten outfield players.

Replace Chambers with Donacien and Georgiou with Dobra and I’m happy with that.

Bailey Clements will come in I reckon. Could see a CB partnership of Wilson and Donacien too but yeah, looks about right I reckon with El Miz or Dobra also in contention.

Dobra, El Mizouni or Roberts for Georgiou. Would be nice to see Roberts play on the wing rather than as a striker.

Worth considering which of those players may go out on loan before tomorrow's five o'clock deadline, would impact not only team selection but also how the four qualifying outfield players are arrived at.
