I think he signed as an U14 or U15 - I watched him play well in an academy showcase game against Spurs were he scored a really good goal as an U15, and think he hadn't been in the academy long at this point.
Was signed from the Finesse Academy which is based in Ilford and he is from around that way, or maybe Colchester

Yep, I had a friend's Dad at school who would cheer for his son at school rugby matches using the same nickname we all used for him as the unimaginative 'Westy', you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to guess his last name.
Always struck me as strange then, and this does now - I couldn't imagine calling my Son's by their surnames, as I'm sure their mates will do, as mine and my Dad's and Uncle's and cousin's mates all do....! | |

I've watched the highlights, so I'm an expert now...
What impressed most is how he didn't go down in the box and look for the penalty whilst they were pulling his shirt and trying to push him off the ball. set up a goal both times for the effort. |  |
