Sandy Martin in HoC 21:25 - Sep 4 with 3515 views | Pinewoodblue | Just stood up and said his constituency marginally voted in favour of leaving. Since when was a 58-42 split marginal.

He said that leave got approx 50%. A little over 50% but not much more.

If memory serves me well it was somewhere between 8-9,000 more.

First time I’ve seen him. He came across as a bit of a tit.

Sandy Martin in HoC on 21:47 - Sep 4 with 2917 views | Freddies_Ears | Given that Wrexiteers never accepted the 65/35 original vote, I'd certainly class anything less than 60/40 as marginal. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think he is a decent overall, but probably elected above his expected level and was not remotely expected to beat Ben Gummer in last election - but of course a combination of Corbynmania and May making an absolute pigs ear of a campaign made a mockery of that.

Ipswich 72.5% 27,698 38,655 41.7% 58.3% almost 11,000 more in favour of leave in Ipswich.

Probably more so with the Brexit Party The Tories are weak on the Northern Bypass with Coffey and Poulter shooting Tom Hunt in the foot repeatedly We're probably a Brexit Party target seat [Post edited 4 Sep 2019 22:10]

Corbyn said he’ll support a GE once tonight’s bill has Royal ascent. That could happen as early as Monday. So Boris brings back the vote again on Tuesday. GE on the 15th.

Mr Corbyn and cronies clearly don't see that he faces a nuclear wipeout in his working class seats!

I suspect the BXP think they can do well in Ipswich, but unless the Tories stand aside (which I can't see happening), the Brexit vote will be split and Labour will win again - if the BXP want as many hardish Brexit-supporting MPs in Parliament as possible after the next GE, it should be they who stand aside.

The BXP role will be to take votes from Labour and let the Tories in.

I can't see that in Ipswich, the BXP will just take too many votes of the Tories
