Well, that's the on 16:20 - Sep 6 with 2611 views | Darth_Koont | Great news for the UK. Now we can sit back and enjoy BJ and the rest of the chancers trying to come up with a deal in time. As they whine that it's everyone else's fault they can't do their job or anything else that they've promised. This is starting to feel like political reform through utter incompetence.

He assured us today he would get that deal through 'the powers of his persuasion'. I think the rich boy is about to discover that in the real world merely wanting something does not obtain it. Don't you just love it when reality comes and punches the delusional in the face?

A bit like some threads on TWTD forum, occasionally things in the Hallowed Halls of green & red leather turn out remarkably contrary to expectations!

I realise that. But peers had tabled over 100 amendments in a sort of philibuster, that we impressive turn around in light of that

It is in. All it does is state the purpose of the A50 extension is to be for bringing forward a version of May's WA, amended by the cross-party discussions in the spring. It does not compel the government to actually do that, just gives it a specific reason. No wriggle-room in terms of the current No Deal crisis.

The 100 amendments were to Wednesday's Lords motion, the one intended to prevent the anti-No Deal bill being phillibustered.

No the Gov and Lab agreed on Wed the Lords wouldn't philbust it. They agreed the Lords would discuss it and if they had any major issues from a legal perspective it would come back to the HoC but they basically agreed the Lords would approve it today. https://www.politicshome.com/news/uk/politics/news/106309/lords-agree-pass-anti- [Post edited 6 Sep 2019 18:40]

There was quite a battle over the motion on Wednesday. 100 amendments. Some very long speeches. Went on until 1.20am, before the government caved in.
