The best bit about that video is that we were all laughing at him. Oh, sorry no, it was because he laughed at himself. I always get those two mixed up.

Tango in the sheets? I think you must be overstating your prowess. You come across as more of a dad dancer

Anybody here ever played Walking Football? on 10:50 - Sep 7 with 4778 views | Ryorry | It's fantastic, I love it! Started about 6 month ago, hadn't played football before apart from a short spell 15 years ago training with a local women's team. It's a mixed, very inclusive group of fairly elderly crocks like me, run by a lovely guy who's an FA coach, but there's no coaching, just playing on astro-turf - anyting from 5 a side to more usually 7-10 a side, regular length game - which I must admit I find pretty demanding, I usually run out of steam after 30 mins each half - and that's mentally as well as physically. With our lot (and another group I've seen) "walking" is very deceptive - think Olympic walking! it's far from a gentle amble round, very competitive, and coach often blows people up for jogging. It is however also very gentlemanly, people look out for each other, and in any case it's no heading, no balls above head-height, and non-contact (tho shin-pads are a requirement). From the fitness point of view it's superb - you're very quickly out of puff, it very much sharpens up your reactions, concentration and thinking - where to move etc. That's probably more so for me as a beginner, because I'm still trying to work out my best position, so I tend to try & cover a lot of the pitch. The less fit people tend to stay up front, in goal, or at the back. As someone else said, a huge part of the fun is the bantz, we have some great wits in the group! Just be sure to do proper warm-ups before you start any game, as we've had a couple of quite bad injuries through people arriving late & skipping them - an achilles and a knee.

How does someone warm up for walking football though? A jog, a sprint?

On a comfy sofa with a nice cup of tea. And a hobnob, obviously.

Is this "tango" the one where she wriggles away from your lecherous embrace until you're both so knackered you fall asleep? Maybe just me, then.

All the stretches - calves etc, straight leg kicks, hip rotations for groin, volley-kicks etc. I also just do a couple of mins v. fast walking in straight lines. On astro-turf, stopping suddenly means your foot can "stick" so muscles can get strained that way too.
