Had the pleasure of meeting him once, as you'd probably expect he was absolutely nothing like how he appears on TV. Seemed like a genuinely nice and, as you say, extremely talented (and intelligent) bloke.


It's surprising how common his brash personality is withing the professional kitchen, a couple of friends who work in London as food wranglers often muse over how tame ramsay is vs some of the chefs they trained under.

Not the kind of language you'd expect of dinner ladies, but there we go

I always assumed the sweary Ramsey is essentially a character for American TV.

I remember watching a UK version of Kitchen nightmares years ago and he was much calmer.

To be fair, on the American show they do seem to be most challenging personalities more often than not

It was a bit like that even when I worked in a rubbish pub kitchen. I suppose working 12 hour days in a tiny boiling room does do that to your nerves after a while!
