I smell a rat, if it was a problem with oxygenated cells / hemoglobin, the blood should be a purple type colour, - theres also some thoughts that even if the blood was de-oxygenated, the blood would turn red in the air, unless you managed to vacuum out the oxygen. |  | |  |

If it was deoxygenated to that extent, she would be dead. I think the suggestion is that the chamical compositin of the blood was altered, turning it blue and inhibiting (but presumably not preventing altogether) oxygen absorbtion.
Or the whole story could be made-up rubbish, as you say. It is Yahoo News, after all. |  |
