After this Saturday there won't be a weekend home game for six weeks. That's right, six weeks.

Think about that.

ffs

Hence the part about opening the blinds.

I wouldn't bother. Easier to wipe on them down.

I remember that! 1-1 and we played well that night. Looking at the fixtures, we’d been on tv for the Saints game (Stewart’s dinked penalty and a right hiding dished out) and I went to the West Ham game, so the gap between games didn’t really register at the time.

The previous home game in March was Bradford City and Hermann Hreidarsson’s bar dive into the crowd not too far away from me. A memorable moment, if ever there was one!

Houllier enjoyed a good moan up.

I mainly went to home matches that season so I was more acutely aware of it. We were starting to take it all a bit for granted by that point in 2001. Not that anyone expected it to last for long but the idea that the greater part of the next 18 years would have been as crap as it has been would have been a niche opinion.

Since you've moved to Scotland, you've really changed.

I know they'll call it off, but we absolutely should play the Wycombe game. Our squad is more than big enough and capable to handle it.

Agreed. And by playing it the fixtures will be more spread out than if it is re-scheduled later in the season. I thought PL didn't like all these back-to-back fixtures? Surely he can incorporate these International breaks into his squad rotation...

Yes, it is one of the nuances of childhood I never personally indulged in. I got my kicks from Noels House Party on a Saturday and Bullseye on a Sunday then to become chronically depressed when the Heartbeat theme tune came on after Bully thus signalling the end of the weekend.

I had no time for that bedroom Olympics.

The heartbeat theme usually meant it was time for me to finally start my homework furiously!

Nothing changes except replace homework with ironing shirts for the working week 🙄

And no my wife doesn't oblige she hasn't the same exacting standards I have alas...

I can’t go tomorrow, so will be a 14th September until 23rd November gap for me.

What a farce.

I was in Year 11 and Lower 6th form through the 2 PL seasons and took them for granted, admittedly non of my friends could drive until the 1st season down so away games weren't really an option (did a couple on the bus).

Even when we went down, I expected to go straight back up - like you say no-one would have predicted this.

That relegation was such a f*ck up, it should never have happened

That's a mid week game Eggers.

It's because of Wycombe international cancellation, Bury going out of business, and a slightly unusual three away games in a row during this period.

#fuming

It's actually four away games in a row.... Col Who in the Who Cares Cup, and the re-aranged Rochdale game.
