Was just discussing this at work, I cant think of many, or any, as faster or faster than Jackson?

Jaime Peters was pretty rapid.

Finidi was quick, especially given he was in his mid 30s when he arrived.

Gio was fast.

Nobody was in the same league as Kevin Horlock!

Some players have been quick over short distances but I'd imagine Jackson would be one fo the fastest sprinters over about 60m or so - him and Danny Haynes the quickest I can remember

I'd say Chris Kiwomya. I seem to recall that his mother was a sprint champion.

Hardest shot? No contest. Ted Philips.

Adam Proudlock
Tony Dinning
Jonathan Douglas
Stern John

In the 4x100m relay doesn't make them fast

Interesting one fastest player. Jackson definitely takes some beating, but there’s a lot that are often overlooked who were deceptively quick. Mowbray for example, often not remembered for his pace but was rapid across a shorter distance.

Not sure if its because defenders are now quicker but i dont think Jackson is as quick as Haynes was. I dont think ive seen anyone play for or against us who is so much quicker than everyone else.

I'd have said Kiwomya as well. I can remember one match on an absolute quagmire of a Portman Road pitch where he ran circles around defenders and sprinted clear on what seemed like every occasion.

May have been the Baltacha 5-1 game against Stoke?

Mowbray could get from Clapham to Venus or Holland in a matter of seconds... so yes, very fast!

I've always wondered who had the hardest shot.
Some say Ted Phillips but I never saw him play.
I saw Dalian Atkinson play and his shot was awseome.

mark venus had a rocket free kick. didn't he destroy someone in the wall once?

Ted Phillips used to the thump the ball from anywhere from about 35 yards, heavier footballs then too.

I have not seen anyone hit a ball harder since.

Kiwomya the quickest I recall. More recently maitland niles.

Hardest shot definitely Venus.

I'd say Venus had the hardest shot of anyone I've watched in my time

Fastest would be probably Danny Haynes or Darren Bent, they reckoned Jaime Peters could do 100 metres in 11 seconds but rarely seemed to display this

He destroyed Alex Notman in a local derby.

I seem to recall his shot was so powerful, it bent his ankle back?

Whatever happened, he had to retire from the game.

That’ll teach him to dye his hair green.

How have no one mentioned Phil Whelan? I bloody loved Phil Whelan. Made up about 10 yards on Saunders before that perfect tackle. Used to represent us in the quickest player race ( winner used to always be Williams the postman from Coventry?)

What did they do that fastest player competition on, just match of the day or something like record breakers?

You'll often find teams have some obscure youth player who is also in the GB youth sprint team etc

We were rumoured to be trialling some West Ham youth I think who was meant to be the fastest dribbler in the Prem a while back? Phil can confirm or deny that

I know not everyone rated Joe Broadboot but....

Joe Broadfoot was pretty quick going down the right wing, sometimes had to slow down to wait for the ball to catch up!

Kevin Beattie, along with all his other attributes, could also motor.

and we have a winner...👍

Once every half a dozen or so games Broadfott would get the ball on the halfway line kick it to around level with the penalty area, catch up with it , cut inside on to his left foot and larrup it into the top corner. Very occasionally it would be the top corner of the net, more often the top corner of Churchmans or The North Stand.

Yes, one of those was on my 14th birthday in the 3-0 win at home to Naarwich, that game was also famous for the salt and sand at half time.

North Stand end that particular goal and I think it went in bottom corner rather than top corner.
