Did you know that the word 'Tory', derives from Gaelic and means 'outlaw' or 'robber'.

Interesting fact, fact fans.

Yes. It was an insult thrown at the fledgling party in the 17th century by their political opponents. Who in return were referred to as "Whiggamores", after a bunch of rebellious Scottish cattle drovers. Later shortened to Whig and a lineal ancestor of the modern Liberal Party.

Technically, the Tory Party ceased to exist in the mid 19th century, with one faction going on to form what would become the Conservatives, while the other joined the Whigs to form the Liberals.

Not like the Tories to underfund public services and drive up waiting lists

The shameful thing is that it doesn't even matter (to them). The dog whistling reaches their core audience and they'll still attract votes even as they are failing us all.

Turkeys voting for Christmas and all that.

Shortage of police but seems to be no problem getting 10 cars out instantly when the Hunt Sabs try to stop them and their dogs mauling foxes.

Doesn't matter now anyway, if you're rich enough you can hire your own police, which is alarmingly worrying.

Regardless of views on fox hunting (and I would 100% agree there’s no place for it in the 21st century), I would suggest that a confrontation between fox hunters and sabs quite obviously requires an emergency response given the potential for serious violence

As for the article, surely the biggest indictment here is that anyone would feel it necessary to fund their own police, rather than just going ‘booo rich people’
