Quarterly season ratings on 12:11 - Oct 8 by JohnWarksTash | Difficult to justify high ratings for a manager who has kept us top of the league pretty much all season, brought in KVY, Norwood and Garbutt, rotated the team whilst maintaining momentum in the league, managed to bring some feel good factor into the Town... What are you on about? Lambert is doing really well..... |
This. Not really sure what the alternative viewpoint is... He mentions Germany a lot? He won't shake Evans hand?

My standpoint with Lambert was that I was holding judgement until his first full season. He didn't do enough in January, whatever resources he had at the time dictating, but the full scrutiny began this season for me, and will rely heavily upon next season should we go up. if we do not, then obviously the judgement will conclude early. However, based on a quarter of the season, as the OP suggests, last season Lambert isn't part of the assessment essentially.

Quarterly season ratings on 12:17 - Oct 8 by chicoazul | I don't think he has done much from a tactical standpoint or even from imposing a pattern of play especially considering how much he chops and changes. He/we simply seem to rely on having a bit of higher quality than everyone else, which is of course fair enough as we do seem to have it, but at the same time I dont think that means the Manager deserves much credit. |

Quarterly season ratings on 11:48 - Oct 8 by StokieBlue | 1) Player of the season - Skuse 2) Goal of the season - Jackson vs Wimbledon - turning that around was very important 3) Most improved player - Downes 4) Most disappointing player - Alan Judge - lets face it, he's been very poor 5) Manager rating - 7/10 - we need to get the ball moving through midfield 6) Team rating - 8/10 - really good but would be nice to put teams away by 2 or 3 SB [Post edited 8 Oct 2019 11:48]

Very poor? Give the guy a break. Next to no pre-season, he's already admitted his head wasn't straight while the window was still open as well. Even ignoring that, he's not been 'very poor'. I would agree with 'underwhelming', and he has still provided assists and helped us change games. Wimbledon in particular turned in our favour after he came on.

Chopping and changing suggests struggling to find the right team. And that's clearly not what he's been doing. And we have better players because the manager recruited a number of them.

For me the only unquestionable success (so far) he has brought in is KVY. The other biggest successes so far were here before him. EDIT; sorry, Holy too, my mistake. [Post edited 8 Oct 2019 12:34]

Garbutt? Norwood? (could be argued he's in a rut but has still scored 5 goals and proved good foil for Jackson).

I dont agree Norwood has been a success, again emphasise "so far". Garbutt is a good point but I dont think we have seen enough of him really, he hasn't played more then I think 3 successive games yet, due possibly of course to his injury.

Once Norwood improves his strike rate from what is currently about one goal every five or six chances he will cease to be the most disappointing player of the season for me. Yes, he does a lot of other stuff but he is mostly here to take chances and he is not currently taking enough of them.

In my opinion he's been poor - can drop the very if it makes you feel better. He's one of the highest paid players in the league no doubt - not sure those are particularly valid excuses - he should be bossing games. I'd argue that the Wimbledon turnaround had far more to do with going 442 and having Georgiu come on than it did with Judge. Aren't we allowed to make criticisms of players nowadays? Really am not expecting more from our points haul but think our performances have been effective more than impressive so far this season. Which is well over half the battle so no real criticism.

It was between those 2 for me, Skuse has been nothing short of superb. KVY offers us a more attacking edge along with his defensive qualities that gives him the nod for me.

I have no doubt KVY will be POTS at the end. I just think in the games which we have had to dig in, there have been a few, Skuse is just so calm. Him and Chambo are so, so valuable to us. I guess it is a good thing that we are debating this, as there are a fair few candidates already.

Good point ... think I've got a six or seven-way tie for POTS with Skuse and Holy in there too. The great thing so far is that most, if not all, of our players have had critical roles at different times this season. So we're not leaning heavily on one or two.
