I am not trying to start any arguments because I know some see this competition as interesting but I am not changing my opinion that it is a ridiculous waste of time.

The competition itself is what's not to like and although it is recognised as a first team game the fact that both teams are way under full strength rather negates that.
Bit like the early stages of whatever the League Cup is now called but far less interesting although some lower teams play close to full strength teams in the League Cup.
The fact that Gillingham made ten (I think) changes from what was presumably their first choice team rather makes a mockery of calling it a first team game. | | | |

I'm not fussed about this competition, but an away day just down the road is a must. The friendlies are always enjoyable and this will have more on it. |  |

I would take no enjoyment from seeing Ipswich win an U23s trophy at Wembley, so I wouldn't go. I want our first visit to new Wembley to be important. | |
