Not if they are off to the City to trade in environmental destruction.

It's just an idiotic move. If you're trying to garner public support is probably best not to stop people getting into work. It also seems to be a lot of older people doing the most disruptive protests. There is no doubt they have a valid point but it's an easy one to make when you've spent the previous 50 years flying around the globe or racking up a carbon footprint of your own. SB

Unfortunately doesn't help people who are either already on their way to work or who are unable to work from home. SB

I did a cursory search for manufacturers but not sure any were publicly traded... brother, we may have to grow fat on BAE and loo paper stocks!

Not everyone can work from home & people who work on building sites etc often have to be there by a certain time or they’ll get lose out on money. All because of these attention seeking freaks. [Post edited 17 Oct 2019 8:55]

London commuters.... on 08:57 - Oct 17 with 4403 views | JakeITFC | The company I work for has long been a target for environmental protestors and so is pretty braced for any events like this (and so it has minimal impact on day-to-day operations). I realise that XR are trying to make the everyday difficult (and tbf they've made good job of making themselves prominent in the national consciousness), but you do have to feel that pissing off your everyday working class punters is a bad move.

I understand the frustration it may cause some people but tbf the future of the planet is probably more important than being a bit late on one day. If governments had taken greater action before then maybe this wouldn't need to happen. But they didn't If you want to be angry at people, may I suggest the complacent politicians who've done nothing or the crooked ones taking backhanders from fossil fuel companines instead of people taking action to save the planet?

It kind of proves their point, that people are more bothered about getting to work on time than, yknow, saving the planet.

At that time in the morning even on the DLR a vast majority would be what people term as low skilled workers. The DLR stations are in some of London's most deprived areas it doesnt only serve Canary Wharf and Bank. The good thing is one of the protesters 'took a hell of a beating' and I'm sure he refused to go to hospital in a diesel polluting ambulance
