All they have to do to upset commuters on the tube is stand on the left hand side of the escalators.

Or, at stations with lifts, fill up a lift with protestors, and not get out.

I'm all for demonstrations on such matters, however, if ER wants us out of cars and onto cleaner transport, isn't (a much improved) tube travel the better option here?

Can’t say I blame them, it’s a miserable enough experience as it is.

What do you expect to happen when people can't get into work? What if that has knock on issues?

How about I come park in your drive and you lose all your income for the day?

Not if they are off to the City to trade in environmental destruction.

Gotcha. So probably 3 (max) people on that train then.

I support XR but I think disrupting the forms of transport they should want people to be using is poor optics at best, bloody stupid at worst.

It's just an idiotic move. If you're trying to garner public support is probably best not to stop people getting into work.

It also seems to be a lot of older people doing the most disruptive protests. There is no doubt they have a valid point but it's an easy one to make when you've spent the previous 50 years flying around the globe or racking up a carbon footprint of your own.

XR gathered outside our office on Monday from 6.30am. I got off one stop earlier, walked and joined them for a bit. Others worked from home. No biggy.

Unfortunately doesn't help people who are either already on their way to work or who are unable to work from home.

Not everyone can work from home & people who work on building sites etc often have to be there by a certain time or they’ll get lose out on money.

All because of these attention seeking freaks.

The company I work for has long been a target for environmental protestors and so is pretty braced for any events like this (and so it has minimal impact on day-to-day operations).

I realise that XR are trying to make the everyday difficult (and tbf they've made good job of making themselves prominent in the national consciousness), but you do have to feel that pissing off your everyday working class punters is a bad move.

I understand the frustration it may cause some people but tbf the future of the planet is probably more important than being a bit late on one day.

If governments had taken greater action before then maybe this wouldn't need to happen. But they didn't

If you want to be angry at people, may I suggest the complacent politicians who've done nothing or the crooked ones taking backhanders from fossil fuel companines instead of people taking action to save the planet?

It kind of proves their point, that people are more bothered about getting to work on time than, yknow, saving the planet.

At that time in the morning even on the DLR a vast majority would be what people term as low skilled workers. The DLR stations are in some of London's most deprived areas it doesnt only serve Canary Wharf and Bank.

The good thing is one of the protesters 'took a hell of a beating' and I'm sure he refused to go to hospital in a diesel polluting ambulance
