I'm going to get absolutely hammered for this but I would hate for us to be the next Man City. Everything that made that club what it was has been lost.

I'd love us to do what Sheffield United are doing (local manager, local captain, British players etc) but have no desire whatsoever to see us taken over by a billionaire owner (or state) from the Middle East.

The problem with all the top Prem. teams is the only thing they have in common with this country is there post code.

Not sure you'll get hammered for that, buh. Think most would agree!

Is Manchester City an actual football team now or a sports entertainment and media company? No wonder people are turned off by the Prem/Champions League.

If it's sports entertainment they should get the Undertaker up front. Proper target man that.

Yes, but they haven't lost their identity in the same way (yet) or spent obscene amounts of money to get their success.

I'm not actually that bothered about the nationality of the owner per se.

Don't even joke about this, Sitters(if we're lucky) or someone is probably already thinking about attempting doing something like this bullsh1t.

On what basis is that ad acceptable? Why does the role need to be fulfilled by a male within that age range?

I’m surprised anyone’s surprised at this. We all disagree with the commercialisation of football but what are they supposed to do? Not use social media to sell tickets? Aimlessly post random stuff?

It’s 2019 - I know independent bakeries that have social media strategies.

Especially given that young lady YouTuber who was posted on here a while ago, forget her name. She was fantastic. No laddy bantz to be found, just great analysis. Someone should give her a job or media work experience.

If your core support won't attend matches, may I tentively suggest that they're not your core support.

From my four years or so in Manchester (admittedly a few years back now), I never got the sense that Citeh had any identity in the first place.

Good point, if made tentatively.

My sentiments entirely.

We've had a number of awful years recently, but, when the good times return, we will appreciate them so much more.

Real football, for real fans.

I think it's the degree of w@nkery involved that most people object to.

As soon as you self-identify (as I believe the modern vernacular has it) as an "influencer", you lose any authenticity that you may previously have possessed...

To be fair I work in this field so I’m probably desensitised to the w@nkery. Just feels like the angst in this thread is about 20 years too late.

I'm more offended by how they describe the great and historic clubs of Atalanta, Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Zagreb as 'relatively unknown'.

Pronouns: He/Him/His. "Imagine being a heterosexual white male in Britain at this moment. How bad is that. Everything you say is racist, everything you say is homophobic. The Woke community have really f****d this country."

To be fair it sounds as if Man City are a tad embarrassed about the ad and didn’t even commission it.
