So, apart from having a much bigger squad, support from the owner and playing in a pub league, is there much difference in style from the mick days? Genuine question.

Let's hope lambo doesn't say a rudey.

Absolutely said the same to my old man after the game.

That tonight was worse than the Mick days.

A high ball is a lost ball against giants at the back ..... so what do we do ... lump it high until Spurs lad come on .... very naive.

I actually thought Rotherham were more like a McCarthy side, very direct, organised, big, and relatively effective, but not much to watch.
I'm not convinced we ever had 60% possession under McCarthy. I think the players are there to play nice stuff (we've seen it on occasion) they've just been set up wrong, we've had very little width the last couple of games and I'm not convinced wing-backs are the way to go.

I survived Ipswich 0-0 Burton

I agree - at least we were playing better opposition when we were trying this under Mick.

The concern isn't the off night, though, as that can happen to every team. But it's now two in a row with a team wanting to fight for a new manager coming up next.

I think a big difference is that Mick knew what he was doing.

2 shots on target - Huws after 2 minutes and the follow up header from Keane.

1 shot off target - Skuse’s header from a corner which went harmlessly wise with about 5 mins to go.

So far from being good enough, and a massive concern at how bad we were, and that started in midfield. Changed formation 3 times and nothing worked - out thought in the dugout and out fought on the pitch

We massively miss Norwood presence on the pitch, he unsettles the entire backline and has them on edge
We massively miss Downes in the midfield. Them two are so important for us.

I’m not sure how much longer a can watch Edwards play for us, just about one of the most pointless piss weak stupid players I can recall us having.

Kills me not seeing Wolf in a starting line up, he’s our best CB

We’ll be good again... one day

Would we have ever put a 26 pass move together to score a goal under Mick? Tonight was a shambles but let's not draw parallels with Mick's turgid last few years on the back of a bad week.

Saying that, Chambers and Wilson were woeful tonight and all too quick to launch it. I'm all for mixing it up but not that shower they served up tonight.

PL's got it wrong two games in a row. Mick got it wrong two seasons in a row. Some perspective needed i think.

Come on ..be fair... Lambo says nice things, does nice things - and even grits his teeth and gets involved with olde players. That was all that was needed to bring people flocking back. To quibble about dire play, constant rotation and poor performances in a lower division is bizarre when the constant rotation, dire play and poor performances were lauded in a higher division.

No, the style of play is pretty much the same.

Someone above said under Mick he doubts we ever had 60% possession - I reckon in this dour league with our squad he would have.

We're hardly Barcelona are we? I like Lambert and appreciate what he's done for the club when thinking about it holistically, but anyone who thinks the football is more than 5-10% easier on the eye is, I think, probably not being honest with themselves.

Baring in mind during Micks last season we had 60% possession against Birmingham, Leeds and Millwall via a 2 minute check then yes, I reckon he would have managed to do similar against fking Accrington

The last 4 games were under Klug, one of which we won 4-0 despite having less than 40% possession

Possession is often dictated by goals, if you are ahead then you have less, and when behind you have more - often when teams get stuffed they have had more possession

Mick never produced football this bad, mainly because he never got us relegated. However, I wonder if we are going to revisit those games where he won with almost 100% shot accuracy, but obviously didn't deserve to, cos errr well reasons.

There's nothing stopping Lambert emulating Mick here, but the whole club has gone so far backwards thanks to Hurst and Evans, he is still a long way off.

Being outplayed by Newcastle at their place is one thing, but having no outlets, no service and no organisation across the whole XI to Rotherham who have been weakened significantly thanks to relegation as some sort of fair comparison just doesn't work.

So back to the bit when you told me it was unlikely we would ever have 60% possession in League One with Mick, despite the fact he achieved that in the league above (and without relegating us, might I add.)....
1
Controversial post alert on 22:18 - Oct 24 with 6232 viewstractorshark

to be fair, the vast majority of that 60% possession was in our own half being knocked sideways between full-backs and centre-backs. Rotherham were happy to let us have possession and then they pressed as soon as we looked like crossing the halfway line.
They hurried Skuse, Huws and Nolan into giving the ball away or going backwards.
I think the last two games are probably a reality check. We haven't been outstanding this season but the league is fairly poor and if you've got goalscorers you'll be up there. We showed that at the start of the season and Peterborough are doing the same now.
