not at all, very very tame. I asked if a black man was to be dressed in fancy dress as the man on the Origi (Liverpool player) banner, would it be racist. spruce said it would be, I asked why. that was honestly all

I wasn't aware of the banner so I just googled it. What is it about mostly white men and their obsession with the size of black men willies?

Its not racist and neither is the chant. It's a ridiculous argument blown out of all proportion. Racism needs to be discriminatory or prejudice to be defined as racism. If anything, the chant is stereotyping, nothing more, nothing less. The word racist gets banded about way too easily.

Apart from a stereotype based on race is kind of the definition of racism.... "the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races."

You'd think so but theres been several examples of the same argument on this forum in the past couple days. Extrapolate that over the whole of society and shock horror you get the groups of racists in football etc that we cant get rid off. Because they wont listen or accept; or simply dont care. I also find it bizarre that an official charity such as Kick It Out identifies something as being racist and Terry from Suffolk decides it's not.

You can’t play the definition game without citing the content and source of your definition. Also, you should really take into account who wrote the definition. People that do a thing, and people that are subjected to a thing, may have a different perspective on how that thing should be defined. Anyhoo, part of the definition of stereotyping from Miriam-Webster. “a standardized mental picture that is held in common by members of a group and that represents an oversimplified opinion, prejudiced attitude, or uncritical judgment” So errrr, by your own words, the chant is stereotyping, hence prejudiced, and so an example of racism. Well that’s awkward. What would be a good word to use, that meets a definition of someone that defends racism?

It's a white bloke talking about how he doesn't get why something is racist. Have you read any of Jeremy Clarkson's books, out of interest?

Fair enough, i've got that wrong. I should probably have read the definition of prejudice more closely before posting. I thought it needed to be derogatory to be defined as racist but appears not.
